On this episode of 2 Frugal Dudes, we’re covering everything you need to know about our first online FI Summit. Reserve your spot here.
People who sign up for the live event will receive a free copy of the Early Retirement Roadmap and a FIRE calculator from Physician on FIRE.
What is FI Summit?
While at FinCon, Sean and Kevin took a session on hosting a conference or summit. This lead to the idea of hosting an online summit so that people from around the world could attend without breaking the bank. This is the main reason why there’s been a lull in episode recording; planning a summit is tough work!
FI Summit is a three day (or evening) event that takes place entirely online with two presentations each day. It’s scheduled to take place from 7pm-9pm EST (4-6pm CT and 2-4pm PT) on March 5th, 6th, and 7th. Each day has a different theme that will help attendees start and continue their financial independence journey.
Day One – FIchology
During day one of Fi Summit, we’ll be diving into what Financial Independence means and the mindset or psychology (FIchology) of the financially independent lifestyle.
We’ll be joined by Brad of the ChooseFI podcast for the first session, which will be covering “Starting Your FI Journey”. This is a great starting point for newcomers to FI, and help attendees kickstart their financial independence journey.
Next up, Alex and Cassie, A.K.A The Thrifty Couple, will be sharing their insights with “Key Strategies for Preparing Your Family for FI”. Alex and Cassie have six kids and have managed to become financially independent and will share how to make that possible when you have mouths to feed.
Day Two – The Journey
Day two covers the “during” portion of the Financial Independence journey. It’s great for newcomers to learn what happens next and those who have already started their path with FI to navigate the road in the best way possible.
On day two we’re joined by Gwen of the FIRE Drill Podcast. Gwen will be presenting “The Power of a Life With Financial Independence” and sharing how to live, know, and thrive on FI. FI means something different to everyone. For Sean, it was the ability to move on a moment’s notice. For Kevin, it’s about not stressing about money. This session will help you create your definition of FI.
We’re also joined by Physician on FIRE for “FIRE with Children: How kids can both complicate and improve your early retirement” which will take a deeper dive into how children can throw off your FIRE estimates. Kids are constant variables. This presentation will teach you how to adapt and reach your goals.
Day Three – FIRE & Beyond
Once you know about FI, how do you plan for your future?
Our first guest of the day is Jillian from Montana Money Adventures. She’ll be discussing how to “Custom Design a Life You Never Want to Retire From” and taking a different angle on retiring early. Rather than focusing on a distant date, what can you do now to live the life you want? Jillian will help process that idea and plan for the future while living life to the fullest in the present.
Our final guest is the Mr. Money Mustache! Pete will be covering “WHY Financial Independence” and offering an AMA session, where live attendees can ask him anything about FIRE.
Where Our Money Went
Kevin’s money went toward the CodeMash conference, where he was leading a session and speaking about Master Mind groups to developers.
Sean’s money went toward moving to Gulf Shores, Alabama. The original plan was to move in a few months, but they decided to take the leap and go now. This was made possible by financial independence!
